Community building

By all accounts across the school Term 1 2017 has been busy, busy, busy and we have had a great start to 2017 at P&F. This year the focus is on community building and involvement in our school. We want P&F to be a place where you can meet other parents and friends of the College and keep in the know of what is happening at BDC. In Term 1 the m onthly P&F meetings have been refreshed seeing the introduction of P&F Gatherings featuring a guest speaker. In Term 1 we have heard from Karin Lisle with information about the BDC Little Movers Education Series. A great program for 3-5 year olds covering a range of areas including languages, music and movement all in a fun and supportive environment. In March, Craig Verbruggen, Head of Maths/eLearning Coordinator came along and shared what’s happening with BYOT and eLearning in the college.

P&F sponsored Susan McLean’s visit, and catered for the pre-presentation function. It was a great informal way to meet people from the school followed by an informative presentation from Susan. More sponsorship this term with the open boys and girls football teams receiving new jerseys. Feedback has been fantastic and the teams look great when representing BDC. Finally P&F helped out at the Kindy Expo showing off our BBQ skills cooking the sausage sizzle. It was wonderful to meet future BDC students who were very excited to see our school (and taste our gelato!).

If you would like to stay up to date with P&F activities or would like to get involved remember to like and follow us on our Facebook Page and join the P&F so we can add you to the mailing list. It is free and open to ALL parents and friends of BDC. It is as easy as filling out the form and lodging at the School office, or at one of our gatherings. We look forward to seeing new faces at our Gatherings in Term 2. P&F Gathers on the third Monday of each month during BDC Terms at 6pm in the Roger Oates Centre, which means the next one is Monday 15 May 2017Mr Patrick Galvin, Primary Coordinator will be sharing his teaching in Talent Development and Critical Thinking in the Primary School.

FACEBOOK LIVE – The P&F exec understand that parents cannot always make it to a Gathering and so at the May meeting will be streaming Mr Galvin’s presentation via Facebook Live – so watch out for that. More info as we get closer to May.

Thank you to all those who have volunteered to help with the wrapping of gifts for the Mother’s Day Stall. Stay tuned for info on the details for the working bee.
