2017 Clarence Valley Equestrian Challenge

On Friday the 27th of October, 10 BDC students consisting of six primary students, Zara Harris, Zara Hoare, Berni Mills, Winnie Mills, Indigo Harris, Olivia Hoare and 4 secondary students Tomika Orme, Tully Guest, Tiarna Williams and Heather Orme all travelled to Hawthorne Park in South Grafton to prepare and compete in the

BDC placed 6th out of 42 nominated teams this year and the students had great success with many individual ribbons and an encouragement award was awarded to Indigo Harris for her dressage test earning her a brand new dressage crop!

We had a new school banner donated to the Equestrian Team by the Guest family and it really polished the already pristine look that the BDC equestrian team had.

Overall, the whole event was a blast and the team came away with many great results and made friends that will last a lifetime. I would like to say a special thanks to all the parents of the team who helped in every way, particularly to Mrs April Harris – BDC team manager for making this event possible. On behalf of all the team we would like to extend a very big thankyou to Tiarna Williams (10) whose horse was unable to compete, so she gave up her time to help plait up many team members horses, tack up and check the gear and also took drinks to very thirsty team members in the heat of the day, your help was very much appreciated.

Grafton Equestrian Challenge is such a great experience for the equestrian enthusiasts. I can speak for the team and say that we cannot wait for next year and many more to come!

If you are interested in joining the team for 2018 please see Mrs April Harris or Heather Orme (Cottee – Yr 10)
