Bishop Druitt College encourages students to focus on mindfulness as a way of reducing stress. The college provides an 8-week course program called Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and encourages students and parents to get onboard. MBSR is a renowned mindfulness program run by Angela Ryder Dip . ED. MA. MBSR facilitator, RYT.
The program brings the principles of mindfulness meditation into everyday life by teaching specific skills and practices that can be incorporated into the daily life of students to help break cycles of anxiety, stress, unhappiness and exhaustion. It is an evidence-based program offering mindfulness tools in order to help manage the physical and emotional symptoms of everyday stress, worries and anxiety, specifically for teenagers.

Some students need these extra strategies and we offer the opportunity for them to participate in this course. The classes will run for 8 weeks, each term for a small group of students. Specifically, students will learn how to cultivate focus and presence, emotional calming skills and activities and be able to see patterns and values with more clarity to benefit future actions. The course is taught mainly through direct experience; and is presented in a fun, accessible and engaging way, providing a safe, warm and supportive place of learning.
