Last week the Under 13 Boys travelled to Port Macquarie to compete in the North Coast Finals Gala Day of the NRL Country Cup. The boys were in a pool competing against 3 other teams.
Their first game was against Port Macquarie cluster winners St Joseph’s College. The game started with BDC under intense pressure defending their line. Eventually the opposition scored. The rest of the half saw BDC start to make inroads into the St Joseph defence but without reward. In the second half, continual pressure saw BDC score twice and run out 10-6 winners.
The second game was against Melville High School who were the Macleay Region winners. BDC started very well and were in front 10-nil at half time. In the second stanza Melville used some rather large 13 year olds to great effect scoring 3 tries and running out 16-10 winners.
In the third and final match BDC needed to win by at least 14 points to have a chance to progress. However, some early tries against us, and injuries left us low on troops and unable to overcome a very determined Great Lakes College from Taree.
The boys put in a great effort for the day particularly not having any reserves. Thanks to Mr Andrews who drove the bus.
