On Wednesday the 7th of September our Under 15s and Opens Rugby League teams competed in the CIS State Finals day of the Joel Brown Cup and the respectively at St Mary’s Stadium, St Mary’s in Sydney. The competition is a 9-a-side format with both ages competing in pools of 4 teams. The top two teams play off in the Grand Final. Our Opens were the defending title holders.

The Under 15s played very well all day. In their first match they narrowly missed out on a draw with the final conversion hitting the upright and missing. They lost their second match by a try. img_3287In their third and final pool game they should solid commitment to register a draw.

The Opens were exceptional in all their matches. A sluggish start in the first half of their first game was reversed with a solid performance in the second stanza. They completely dominated their opposition in their second match and rounded off their final pool game with a solid win.

In the Grand Final against Regents Park Christian College they were fairly comfortable although it did get a little close for comfort towards the end of the match before a match-sealing try 22-14. A fantastic effort to compliment last year’s victory.

All the boys were a credit to the college. All games were played with great spirit. Big thankyou to Mr Andrews who drove the bus and ran the Opens team.
